The Professional Pool and Spa Operator (PPSO®) certification course is the industry’s premier program for commercial swimming pool operators, managers, engineers, service company professionals, health officials and facility owners.

Both BASIC and PACKAGE courses include the PHTA® Professional Pool Spa Operator (PPSO®) Manual – a comprehensive guide for pool and spa professionals that provides valuable information on the fundamentals of pool and spa operations and water management.

Unlike traditional courses, the PPSO® course provides everything commercial pool operators need, and nothing they don’t.

​Who Should Apply?
No industry experience is required. The only requirements are that you must pass a 60-question, closed-book, multiple-choice exam at the end of the course in order to receive your certificate.

The Instructor-led program is a two-day course. Students are provided with the PPSO® Manual which is designed to facilitate student learning. The book contains Learning Objectives at the beginning of each chapter, which are reinforced at the end of the chapter with review questions.

Why PPSO®?

Time and again, members note that traditional certification courses offer too much unnecessary information that leaves students confused and unprepared in the real world. Unlike traditional courses, the PPSO® course provides everything commercial operators need and nothing they don’t—setting up commercial operators for success on day 1.

The new course focuses on delivering core content around the actual tasks that need to be done to service a pool system:

• Must-know information about the circulation and filtration system.
• How to interpret and apply state and local codes.
• How to identify and address chemical and physical safety concerns.

NOTES for LIVE Class attendees:

Every class offers two 10 to 15 minute breaks per day.

Lunch break is 30 minutes.

• You may pick a handbook up in person with proof of course purchase at Portofino
• Handbooks are only shipped to home addresses.
• By not including a home address on your registration, you are accepting this policy.
• Should you want the handbook shipped to a business address and you do not receive for study before class or are lost, before admission to class, a new handbook must be purchased for $65.00.
