About Portofino University

Founded in 2005, by Jack Manilla in Jacksonville, Florida – Portofino University provides certification courses and training for commercial and residential aquatic facility managers, operators, technicians, contractors and owners. Portofino University teaches the application of STEAM principles (science, technology, engineering, art and math) in relation to the world of aquatics. Courses are offered both online and in live classrooms.

​​Serving Florida and Southeast Georgia, participants have attended classes in Jacksonville from the Middle East, South America, Europe and Asia. Portofino training consultants have traveled throughout the world to conduct training throughout North America, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the Caribbean.

About Jack Manilla

Jack Manilla is the author of “Secrets of The Pink House” and President and Founder of Portofino Pools and Portofino University. He is a man of detail, success and a leader in both commercial and residential pool and outdoor living services.

Over his career, Manilla has built several multi-million-dollar midsize businesses as well as two Fortune 500 companies, each exceeding annual revenue of $100 million. Currently, he is the president at the center of Portofino Pool Services & Outdoor Living and Portofino University.

His unique combinations of technical knowledge and unwavering organization have made Portofino Pool Services & Outdoor Living the business it is today. In addition to running Portofino Pools, Manilla is currently Chair, Board of Directors and past Chair-Elect and Secretary, Treasurer of The Pool and Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA), the world’s largest and oldest aquatic industry association.

Jack also consults with the PHTA regarding the International Swimming Pool and Spa Code training course and is the creator of the FSPA® 60-hour pool service contractor course.
